The boat next to me (Bayliner 3988) has two 16,000 Cruiseairs. In the past 6 months he's having a problem with the white wire buring up at the dock plug.Surprised
He has zero problems if he just runs one unit or the other, it's when he tries to use both.
I had him check the connection at the boat (have read that's usually the main problem) and he replaced both the male plug on the boat and the female end of the cord as they were both charred.
But in the last week, his cord that plugs into the boat burned up so he then wired the cord directly into his breaker box (only 18″ inside of where the plug was located at).
Yesterday my wife called me to let me know there was SMOKE coming out of the dock ped!.
Seems his cord plug had burned itself and also the female plug on the dock ped too.
Am guessing it's a bad ground wire on the boat ????? The wiring at his breaker box are all fine.
Also, when he goes off and anchors out for a day or more, he has no problems with the a/c's when running the genset.

If this is a dual 30 amp 115 volt service setup…Two clean 16K units with pump will draw right at, or more than 30 amps…I would expect what you are seeing to happen if they are both on one 30 amp shore cord.

Moving one of the units to the other 30 amp shore line will solve the problem.

Also…Loss of seawater flow, or dirty condensers (scaled up) will cause higher than rated amp draw…
