Theres two more units; one has a older compressor with an older controller, and one I can not get to (yet!)
On the lower tier is the old one in the foreground, next with new compressor is guest SR, next is 36K with two on top of that. One being the master SR, and next to that is probably upper salon… what a mess! ws

That is the factory provided strainer (for now) with the 12K unit (!?)…Maybe the Chris Craft factory supplied it but not Marine Air or Cruisair…Its merely there until I find a 1-1/2" groco unit. This coming week, I am doing a fuel tank wash AND polish job plus an oil change. I'll finally have a chance to look around some of the A.C. stuff.
Looking at the compressors the other day, I found there to be four 110vac units and the biggie 220 unit. I am sure thats the salon unit, and guessing it also feeds the air handler next to the lower helm. (?) The 110 jobs are for the V berth, master SR, Guest SR, and the upper salon that I pulled out last week for the rehab up there.
Heres some tag pics off the units… ws…Judging by serial numbers It looks like all that equipment was replaced in 1996…

Yep… the first unit has the control box on a pig tail. Wall mounted perhaps?? On the strainer issue; thats what came with it when I pulled the unit. The thruhull is 1-1/2" and the AC unit takes a 5/8 supply. Should I go with the 1-1/2" strainer for capacity sake? I'd much rather see a big brass unit in there as I plan on building a day bunk over the area and want as easy and less routine maintenance as possible.
This is the original strainer (1-1/2"?) that supplied the 5 built in units…. ws

Hey Steve… I have an opportunity to pick up another 12K unit cheap. The guy swears that it only needs a reversing valve. Since I only need cooling, is this really an issue? Please elaborate… ws

Thats one I wouldn't consider Bill…Leave it be…Stuck reversing valves take out compressors by dumping hot gas from the discharge back onto the suction side of the compressor….The compressor in that model is obsolete, and even if it did/does run ok, the damage may not show for a week or a month of running…

If I owned that one…I'd rob the blower & switch, then off to the scrap yard with the rest.

Thanks for your candid opinion Steve!! I sure dont wanna bite off more than I can chew!!
I really am impressed with that stand alone unit I put in and cant see monopolizing all that engine room space with the old style compressors and the air handlers in the rooms.
I set that one at 74F last night and the t stat read 74 this morning with just the fan running. No comp or pump. 10 minutes after we were up it kicked back on and was making ice cubes again! ws

Bill…I no longer have a picture of your control to see which Penguin you have, or I need a unit model # to get you the right link…

I think I remember telling you you have the latest Passport "I/O" control and if that's the case (be sure your Penguin matches the one on the first page of the manual) Here you go…
